3 Mindset Blocks to Overcome to Grow a Profitable Business

There are 3 mindset shifts for brand new entrepreneurs to grow your profitable business.

Block #1:  Someone else is already doing it…

Does this sound familiar? And maybe you feel that person is doing it better than you could? 

This is something that held me back for a long time, I’d have a great idea for a name of a program and then I’d google it to see if it was already “taken”. It didn’t matter to me if the name was used for something totally different or even in a completely different industry. If someone was using that name, I couldn’t...that’s how my thought process held me back for a long time. 

 Not building my business quickly, cost me a lot of money. I felt stuck, like I couldn’t move forward without a name, without a brand and the truth is that I would be a lot farther along now, and I could have made a bigger impact in the world. You see at that time, FB ads were just starting to be used by small businesses, and they were super inexpensive. Both Facebook & Instagram were growing quickly and if I hadn’t been so caught up on what to call myself and my program I could have made way more money than I did. I missed that boat and don’t want the same for you.

Let me share another story about why it doesn’t matter that someone else is doing the same thing as you… a couple of years ago, I was listening to an audiobook called “The Untethered Soul” and it was amazing. I felt enlightened for at least 4 days….so happy, unshakeable and strong & confident. And you know what….I didn’t learn anything from that book. There was no new information...but the way the author Micheal Singer put it together for me with his analogies and his experiences and his stories, it’s probably my favourite book ever.

So here’s the point…it doesn’t matter if someone else is already doing it,…you have unique gifts that will draw in your own ideal clients, and perhaps you have a specific way of delivering your business that will resonate with those not yet introduced to your line of work.  

Block #2: I’ll do this…when I get this…

I’ll launch my business, once I get my certification….

I’ll start selling my program once I get my website done….

Sound familiar?  Sometimes we get stuck on the need to feel totally prepared, we want to be comfortable and confident…however, in doing that, we lose time.  A year goes by and your business still isn’t making money, and you’re waiting for that something to happen before you can start. 

So start now, be bold, ask yourself, how can I start this without that thing I think I need?

There is no need to be perfect, there is a need to be authentic, and by being authentic your business will grow organically around you.  Things can be adapted or changed as your business grows and changes.

So start now…before you’re ready!

Block #3: I can do it alone…

Start with this thought…does a CEO do it alone?

You’re probably answering no…and you’re probably also thinking…my business is too small, I can’t possibly hire anyone…

And that’s ok, however, you can still start thinking like a CEO…and I recommend that you do. 

In the early days of my business, time was something that I had always been struggling with.  I am a mother, I was running another business, I was trying to keep a house in order…I was trying to do it all on my own…and it wasn’t working.  So I made the decision to hire a housekeeper…now I know you’re thinking, that isn’t helping with your business…but it was, that person was able to free up time for me to be present and work on myself and my business.

CEOs are resourceful and creative, and so are you…in building and starting your business, are there family or friends that wouldn’t mind helping out to support you? Or maybe something in your personal life can be temporarily looked after by someone else, so that you have freed up time to be present in your professional life?

As my business continued to grow, I sometimes found myself stumbling at different points, and it usually had to do with my mindset…ever heard of the saying “new level - same devil”?  I had multiple business coaches, yet I still found myself getting stuck.  So I invested in a mindset coach, and her mindset work is mostly inspiration, reframing thoughts and encouragement, which is exactly what my business needed.  Proof, even I could not do it alone.
