The Point of No Return on Your Spiritual Journey

WHEN YOU GET TO THIS POINT YOU MAY WISH YOU COULD JUST GO BACK... But there is no going back!!!

Not too long ago, we painted my daughter's room which included removing wallpaper from one wall.

There was this point shortly after we started taking down the wallpaper that we wished we hadn't started.

Wallpaper is not fun to remove and as you do, you start to see all the imperfections behind it.

This is similar to spiritual growth work.

When you start to really examine yourself instead of just living by old conditioning and habits, you start to notice the less pleasant aspects of yourself.

You also notice the different aspects of your personalities (archetypes) that you've hidden down in the basement because they weren't good enough for yourself or someone else or maybe at some point they were shamed or punished.

When you get to this point you may wish you hadn't become aware and that you could just go back to living your old naive life.

But just like when you start to remove wallpaper, there is no going back.

You can't un-see what you've seen.

You have to keep moving forward, peeling and uncovering different aspects of yourself.

And the work is to keep pulling back layers of conditioning to find your true self.

Pulling back the movies that made you afraid of parking lots and large empty public washrooms.

Pulling back the relative's comments about your looks or your weight.

Pulling back the societal norms and expectations.

Pulling back the family habits that have been passed down for generations.

And looking for your true self, your whole self and all your different parts of yourself.

The work is to accept and love all parts of you, the mean girl, the goody-two-shoes, the party girl and the wallflower.

Allow the addict, the chubby girl, the spoiled brat and the warrior to all come up out of the basement and embrace them.

Give them a hug and tell them it's ok, they can play with you too.

Tell them you are sorry for shunning them.

Tell them that you accept them.

Tell them that you love them.

And when you do that, you'll finally be free.

When you own all parts of your self, that's when you really find freedom.

True blissful freedom...isn't that what you want? Share your thoughts below.
